                Frequently Asked Questions

You can apply for a UK Skilled Worker visa 3 months before the date you are due to start work in the United Kingdom.

If you have submitted your Skilled Worker visa application from South Africa, you should get a decision from the Home Office within 3 weeks.

Your certificate of sponsorship holds all your personal details and information about the job you are going to do once in the UK.

The certificate of sponsorship is an electronic record, and there is no paper evidence of it. Your sponsor will provide you with the reference number to add to your application. This number can only be used once, and within 3 months after getting it.

If you want to change your job with a different employer, or if your role changes to a different standard occupation classification (SOC) code, you may need to submit a new visa application.

Get in touch with our UK immigration experts to have your case professional reviewed and receive professional assistance.

To be eligible for a Skilled Worker visa, you must be paid at least £38,700 per year, or the “going rate” for the role you are going to have in the UK.

Besides this, you must have at least £1,270 in your bank account for 28 days before your application. This is essential to demonstrate that you can sustain yourself and your family while in the UK, as you won’t be allowed to seek public funds.

The Skilled Worker visa is valid for up to five years. You can then apply to extend your visa if you still meet the eligibility requirements. Or, you may want to then apply for settlement or Indefinite Leave to Remain for South African citizens.
